INSTITUTO GRÁFICO DE CHICAGO
“Posada Presente” is a print portfolio organized by the Instituto Grafico de Chicago as a homage to Mexico’s most recognized printmaker, José Guadalupe Posada, on the 100th anniversary of his death. As one of Mexico’s most prolific artists who lived through the Mexican Revolution, what satirical, social injustice, political, or popular cultural event would he respond to through his work if he were alive today?
This portfolio exchange is a collaboration between 32 artists from the United States and Mexico who created a hand pulled print according to the theme “ What would Posada print today?” In the spirit of Posada, these participating artists responded to a contemporary social issue pertinent to their worldview.
